A practical point of view

I make things that are clear, useful, and built for people.

Charlie Sears is an Alaska-based designer and hobbyist developer who builds straightforward websites and small digital tools. His approach comes from years spent across film, independent arts, and hands-on creative projects: understand what people need, remove what gets in the way, and make the result feel considered.

A lifelong Alaskan from Anchorage, Charlie began his creative career in filmmaking. He worked on productions including Big Miracle and spent more than a decade as a film editor, earning a Northwest Regional Emmy® along the way.

Charlie also founded a nonprofit supporting independent filmmaking in Alaska. In his spare time, he creates simple apps and tools that solve everyday problems, especially in places where existing options feel expensive, complicated, or difficult to use.

Websites by AKAN grows from that same community-minded perspective. It is a way to give people, small businesses, artists, and organizations a fairer option for getting a thoughtful website online without forcing the project into an oversized monthly platform.
